We the sheople! I like it!! And thanks for your comments!! The problem here is that Colin Powell is a "team player" who serves the commander in chief, George Bush.. For him to openly oppose the president would be disloyal, as well as career limiting. And that has NOTHING to do with his race or color. It applies to EVERYONE working in the Bush administration. Thus, Powell argues his point of view behind closed doors. He advocates more reliance on the dysfunctional United Nations approach, despite it being plainly evident that the UN is a "rigged" system which has no interest in enforcing its own binding resolutions. But Powell, being the SecState, has an obligation to pursue the diplomatic course of action in order to maintain the relevance of his own department in formulating policy. But Powell is a good soldier who understands the chain of command. And he will act in such a capacity, never undermining his commander.. So for Belafonte to utterly ignore this fact, and to incite racial overtones in order to coerce Powell to adopt Belafonte's perspectives on going to war with Iraq, is unforgiveable. Anyone who works for the "white house", regardless of color is a "house slave".. Hell, we're all "house slaves" within our corporate chain of command. I'm sure there aren't many of us who would openly undermine the person who pays our check and appointed us to our positions. We try and change policy from the inside, by weight of our arguments. And if we fail to succeed, we're obligated to abide by, and support, the decisions of our leaders. Powell not speaking out has nothing to do with being a "house slave", but with being a loyal member of the administration who understands that publicly issuing dissent only serves to assist folks like Saddam.
