When the reserves are called up for a major attack on Iraq, you won't have to chart the mobilization figures, you'll be reading about it in the newspaper. Impossible to hide something like that.

From my perspective, you have been in really deep denial that there has been a very significant buildup of not men, but materiel, and expansion of bases. We don't fight wars the way we used to, especially since the other side isn't fighting back.

Last night a Russian pundit being interviewed in NPR about the hostage situation in Moscow said that Russia's reluctance to sign the US resolution was motivated by money. For enough money, the Russians will go along.
