the ideas being pushed by the bioethicists have changed in a way that the author doesn't like.

Yes. All the more reason for the author to make his choices and all of the rest of us doing the same. The net result of that process, whatever that may be, will be our bioethics. And the critique and the persuasion will go on in the op-eds and the universities and the think tanks, all of which informs our choices and are fodder for the evolution of our bioethics. Amen.
