You don't get it. Jewels was not referring to his own unhappiness. He was referring to the grief in "THE WORLD." Whether or not it is a choice (How puerile) is irrelevant. Your assumption that suffering people (the great majority) are not sad is gratuitous and disdainful...

But it is nice to know that you are not vulnerable to such feelings. Thumbs up to you for such marvellous detachment. Are you as aloof from the feelings of others as you apparently are from your own (according to recent posts, and in my opinion, I mean)??

You tell him you are not sad, but you could be lying, just as he could be lying about what he says. No way to know.
