I actually do the reverse and have a summer home in Canada :-)

A friend of mine from Tampa got ahold of a bumper sticker for me that my (Canadian) father in-law got a big laugh out of - "When I get old - I'm moving to Canada and am going to drive slow in the middle of the Road".

Before he met my wife he thought all Canadians were born at 65 with blue hair!

A sidenote: An African-American friend says he loves the shift in the US public perception in the last year, whereby the blacks are no longer considered "suspicious" and discriminated against accordingly - he says that the honor now lies with Arabs :)
