I think that the incident in which the son, pitching a ball, filled with rage he doesn't understand, very nearly blinds the boy who in the end becomes his best friend (and whose father turns out to he his mentor), makes the book qualify as being one about a child with a psychopathology.

It would be fascinating to write about, and if others read it, to talk about....
