Not especially, no. In the case of Al Quaida, we simply fit into a religious/political narrative, explaining how the Muslims world, and particularly the Arabs, sank from the glory of the Caliphate to being peripheral to Christendom, and even a world of sheer secularity. Instead of being the result of impersonal forces, or a commentary about the deficiencies in their own culture, this state of affairs is interpreted as their having lost the favor of Allah through laxity, and the rise of Satan to punish Islam, through his agent, America......
