I think AG has set himself up for a no-win situation.

He has telegraphed a lowering -- if he doesn't do it, he better have pretty good spin because spreads between short-term and long-term as well as corporates and govvies are likely to get even more out of whack.

If he does lower now, he admits defeat. that monetary policy either

1) isn't working

or

2) hasn't been enough up until now

Either way -- nobody is going to continue buying the empty promise of a recovery pushed out another 6 months. Every one is already starting to figure out it is a lie, just like the rest of the govmnt statistics they are trying to jack with UNTIL the recovery takes hold ...

Mainstream press is picking this up now. Non-linearity is about to take over -- at some pt pumping huge amounts into the money supply will not even work -- the players will move to protect THEMSELVES first and monies won't flow where they are supposed to ...
