To: JakeStraw who wrote (10040 ) 10/29/2002 11:13:01 AM From: im a survivor Read Replies (2) | Respond to of 10227 <<price wars>> Already started...I get calls and letters from almost every telcom, and they are practically willing to give away their service just to be able to add you to their customer list....I expect this to heat up even further when others come out with similar service as direct connect....NXTL has a firm hold on BIZ market, but in the biz world, the corporate folk are always looking at the bottom line....NUMBERS...and if a competitor comes out with similar service for lower cost, you can rest assured many companies will take the lower price.....One of my largest accounts, which I wont name is one of the largest companies in the world...they are all on NXTL....when I bought NXTL, and all during the time I held, I spoke with some of the big wigs about nxtl...if they liked it, thought is was worth the money and etc, etc.....The responses I got were that yes, they love NXTL and love the service...they also said however, that if they could get the same services for less money, they would do it in a heartbeat...and this is a global company...one of largest in the world....My wifes company, which is also one of the largest in the world, does not use NXTL currently, because their existing carrier said they would have similar service very soon for far less money...so they are waiting it out, rather then go with nxtl.....and lets not forget how rutheless and hardcore these price wars get on anything.....how many times have we seen a company thats said they will not change, will not lower prices, will not come out with a cheaper product...only to be forced to do so to remain competitive.....I remember when DELL swore they would NEVER have a low end computer....would never have "re-sellers".....yet, DELL was smart enough to realize they had to come out with a lower priced machine to remain competitive and here in NC, they are opening 3 area, DELL "stores"...to sell computers.....actually, they are KIOSKS, not stores, but all are going into major malls where retail and business traffic is brisk.....point being, to be sucessful, you never say never and you adapt to business conditions.....if price wars happen, which I think is a given, NXTL will have no choice but to adapt, IMO.....
