You are more likely to ride the bottom BB when you hit it during a prior slight uptrend with tightening bands.

You are more likely to ride the lower BB when you hit it during a prior slight downtrend with tightening bands.

Hitting the upper during an uptrend and the lower during a downtrend usually gives u a bounce to at least the middle band.

It is a little more unpredictable for individual stocks than for an index.
