"Anonymous people have to DO something to you, in order to be punished"

I don't think that point was under dispute.

"There have been many 3d crimes committed by people which arose from internet chat sites- but the crimes I am aware of arose from the desire of some people to "make it real".

As you have already acknowledged...it IS real. The people are real, the site is real. Everything is real. If people talk face to face it is not actionable unless they "make it real" as you say. Nor is talking here actionable unless it involves something illegal such as harassment, stalking, stealing someone's invention and making money off it, and so forth. Are you aware of anybody punishing someone on SI who had not "DONE" something in the context of what you are asserting? Do you want to punish someone on SI for something? Who, then?

"I don't think the police have much to say about alias on alias crime"

Police would never consider charging someone's name; if they were to lay a charge they would simply charge the person...usually under their birth name, or their last legal name, if available. For instance if Neocon had threatened Tim when they had dinner, and had continued to threaten him by bulletin board postings, the police would not charge the alias "Neocon" which is simply six inanimate letters--they would charge the person who goes by several names including the name of Neocon...
