i agree "beat the streat" is a problem, but i just don't see how any rule can protect people who make long term "investment" decisions without bothering to read financial statements. about the only thing i can think might help a bit is requiring GAAP to be up front in bold and pro forma relegated to the footnotes. that's probably not entirely unlike your "standard format" requirement. but there just is no way to keep people who refuse to educate themselves from getting fooled. on an unrelated note, i've been thinking about the Hit List you posted on the CFZ thread...and your leap put strategy...going to let that ferment in my mind for a littel longer, lots of good stuff there....
