I already said that controlling an emotional response was quite possible......So, manuscripts circulated in samizdat because of freedom of the press? Solzhenitsyn was exiled because of freedom of the press? Dissidents were routinely jailed because of freedom of speech and assembly? Jews were not allowed to conduct Hebrew school classes openly because of freedom of religion? To equate occasional tolerance with actual civil liberties is ridiculous. Piffle, indeed......
