thanks xbrit, btw I agree with that pov completely.

Something interesting- a grocery store chain (not safeway but a pretty big one) needed some e-commerce software recently and chose a startup who has been around since 2000 or so vs. going with ariba,itwo etc.

I think these former high flyers from the bubble have a stigma and are going to have a tough time working through it. Not to mention the constant reorgs and staff turnover they are still going through to rightsize themselves. Its not just software either, someone said something similar on the jdsu thread 2 days ago. JDSU is doing 200mm/qtr now, their massive infrastructure is almost a hindrance, who cares how much cash they have.

Some specialized software companies like beas,manu,itwo etc are borderline and might be able to play along side the big guys... the stocks are acting like the future is nonexistant for these so could be a good trade in there. But for a lot of them like epny bvsn etc. the future probably IS nonexistant.
