Many things diff in Oct 2001..retiring of 30 yr bond, further cuts in rates, heavy mortgage refinancing, V-shaped BS theory (in 'profits' that is), and the OFT-QUOTED 60 B (or so) stimulus package (not mentioning that a good part of it was slated for NY region for post-9/11 rebuilding etc). So while we had a dip towards end of Oct 2001 in the markets, the surge in November was largely attributed to the retiring of the 30 yr bond and other factors at play then. Oh yes, and the theory that markets rarely go down 3 yrs in a row-g.
