clappy,

regarding the race between oneworld and
stars and stripes - it was very weird.

oneworld was leading, as they were approaching
the first mark, but, the mark wasn't there.
various committee boats i guess were approaching
lickity split to the area and then all of a
sudden it was announced that one of those boats
would be the "mark" and it raised a flag to
indicate that.

unfortunately by that time, one world had sailed
past it, but stars and stripes had yet to get
there. so S&S easily rounded the mark first,
OW had to back track and then again circle the
mark. that put them approximately 2 minutes
behind. it was a huge F.U. - reminds me of badly
run judo tournaments.

as they approached the finish, OW had caught up
significantly and then the gods smiled down at
them. the wind died completely and neither
boat crossed the finish line in the time allotted.

the race was abandoned and they get to do it
all another day.
