After reading Qualcomm's press release on the subject, I think a migration to CDMA would be required before Worldwide Direct Connect becomes a possibility. I won't hold my breath.

Just to ignore DC for a moment and focus on NXTL service area; the footprint is still way too small. I spend summers in On.Ca. 200 mi. N. of Toronto. No service w/i 100 mi. So, one gets another phone,eg. Verizon that does the coverage and NXTL is out a customer. I'm not alone; the summer pop. increases 4x from June to Sept.More than 1/2 mil people vacation in the area over just 12 weeks. This is an increasing problem of apparent low priority right now to NXTL. neal
