Of course. That goes without saying. But the willingness to listen, assuming it is honest and not pretense, admits the possibility that one's mind is open to change under a strong enough argument. Which is to admit that there is moral surety, but not certainty. Which, IMO, distinguishes the principled person from the fanatic. The fanatic has not surety but certainty. That is what makes him or her so dangerous -- there is no way to change hir or her mind other than killing them.
