Don, the odds are very good that the computer operator was able to bet the Pick Six after the first four races results had come in, not to slander anyone who is a better crook than I am. It is not so much that he won. I've seen people make lots of goofy looking bets. But singletons on the first four races then betting every horse on the last two sounds awfully fishy. Especially when we're talking about the state with the greatest number of mafia families. For a more erudite and through discussion, read the Thorougbred horseracing thread. They are beating on this one fairly well.

Hi Don,

Any one who has settled bets (or ran a manufacturing line for that matter) can tell you that some mighty weird things happen.

Just the fact that lots of people bet, or things are manufactured, mean some real unlikely permutations turn up.

It looks as if the bet was a scam though..

but, if so, the authorities should be able to prove it beyond reasonable doubt.

Waiting for four horses to show up as winners sounds like an invitation to fix a winning ticket using an insider. With all that bandwidth and computing power out there, keeping track of all bets does not sound like such a big deal to me.

Bear in mind you will see loads of rage and disbelief in cases that show up as genuine too though.
