Hi SS, how have you been?

No, I don't think it's your age.
I think you're correct about the numbers not being completely accurate.
Not sure how they are calculated.

Of course, one other factor(which probably doesn't amount to a whole lotta beans)
I wonder what the number of people are who are collecting unemployment
Yet working and getting paid under the table.

Do the unemployment figures include those who were forced to retire?

I would thing those forced into early retirement
are considered retired and out of the employment pool.
I could be wrong though, just taking a guess.

The unemployment data is done from a survey. People who are 'looking for work' are counted as unemployed. People who have given up looking aren't counted as unemployed and people who have taken a job below their normal level are not counted as unemployed either.

Quite a few people I know aren't working but would like to go back sometime. They are waiting for things to get better in the economy. Financially, they are comfortable. The number of companies hiring is quite low, though for some positions, I hear people complain that they still can't find anyone. Maybe the qualified folks just stopped looking.
