Corning said it expects to take restructuring and asset impairment charges in the range of $550 million to $650 million pretax in its fourth quarter for cutting about 2,200 jobs, the closure of its optical fiber plants in Australia and Germany, as well as mothballing its plant in Concord, North Carolina.
