Yes, a large part was due to that..i didn't mention that the fisheries industry was in a decline then either..in my mind the oregon coast economy was in near total collapse..the closest thing i ever want to see of a depression.

By the late '70's however tech companies started up in the nw suburbs of portland..i remember the tectronics plant being built and at the time i was clueless what they made -g-
