Something like that. Some people descend into a pit with drugs or alcohol -- some people just sink into a pit of prejudice and hate speech. Neither are easy pits to crawl out of, and I am sure he has found others in the pit with equally vile problems who encourage him to wallow in the pit for the rest of his life. It is pathetic.
