Ted, <He isn't?>
If I get killed in a car crash while going to church, does that make me a Christian martyr?

If I die on a corporate jet, does that mean I gave my life in service of the corporation?

Ten, first, I said "he isn't?" tongue in cheek. Secondly, you don't get to be a martyr until you've put your ass on the line........simply being Christian or a corporate rat doesn't automatically qualify one for martyr status. <g>

I have no doubt that Wellstone was a strong believer in liberal values. I just don't like the way his death is being used to obtain the sympathy vote. Wellstone's tragic death does not make his beliefs or ideals any more valid, or any less valid for that matter.

They were not trying to get the sympathy vote; they don't need to.........I would be very surprised if Mondale loses.

The reality is is that they were celebrating his life, a life devoted to teaching, politics and liberal values. Wellstone was fairly unusual even by MN standards......standing for what he believed in no matter the consquences. In the last few years, he was suffering from MS but he didn't let that slow him down.

Sooooo.......you or anyone else may not like the memorial in his name or think it inappropriate but its not any of your business. Wellstone epitomizes all that was good about policians, and people in general........and the people in attendence at his memorial are sorely missing him.
