Mosnish has made some shrewd and important observations.
Especially about the subject of sitting still. At the beginning of 2000 I was highly margined and no way positioned to sit still. Kept selling most of the year but was stilll getting hurt- I wanted and dreamed of sitting still, but no way to do that.
Conclusion: Never use margin when the market is high ( How did I know it was high?. Abbey and others kept saying we were going to 14k Dow)
The way to real success and happiness ( rather than just wealth) is to find what one is good at doing and dump all efforts into improving- becoming the best. Wealth often follows.
My advice to younger people is to get the education, get the job, buy the home, get some savings, get the retirement benefits And then you will be so &^%$ bored you chose between going to Vegas or playing the markets.
