ddl, patent describes a more efficient manuf process for solar radiation control thin film (window glazing treatments) by combining PVD and CVD in one machine. The patent doesn't speak of PV manuf but I am making a supposition that this patent may have bearing on future PV manuf machines as I see it below:

The new 30MW machine uses 3 deposition machines to coat the stainless steel rolls:
1st, the back reflector machine magnetron sputters (this is PVD)the reflective layer then the rolls are moved to the
2nd, big (the one pictured in most press releases) 36 chamber machine where the 9 layers of the triple junction cell are deposited via chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and then the rolls are moved to the
3rd, ITO reactive sputtering machine (PVD), which is the top cell coat (and then module assembly area for finishing).

If ECD's PVD-CVD combination turns out to work in solar radiation thin film manuf machines, then I will be on the lookout for these 3 separate PV coating machines being combined into 1 ... in the next gen PV machine.

Only my supposition and I hope now clearer.
