That's a good point. Actually I think you have to hook up your primary computer to the modem during setup so they can read the MAC themselves.

I looked on the back of the modem and I don't see any numbers that say HFC MAC ID - only serial numbers and a product number. I might just have to use the new modem and start from scratch!
