Patricia, it will probably be very easy. I originally had broadband installed by a technician - the modem going directly into a single PC. Later I installed the Linksys router myself - connected to 2 computers - and didn't need to call anyone. I think the system self-detected the change. I have AT&T cable though and kept the same modem throughout.

I have heard nothing but good things about Linksys so probably they can answer all your questions. As a last resort you could read the manual.
