Onstar as an emergency service is ok, althought it runs off the analog cellular network, so it is useless in remote areas. As a navigation system and as a cellular phone, it is a dismal mistake. Rather than have spent the money on a map and screen, they want you to be even more distracted while you ask someone over the phone to tell you where to turn next.

And if your not in analog coverage, such as in the Arizona desert, then your out of luck. So if your airbags blow out 85 miles north of Flagstaff on your way to the grand canyon, you'll just have to lie there and contemplate just how bad onstar really is.

I almost bought an Escalade, but stopped when they decided that they would force Onstar on me and the sales people acted like "why would you ever want to take your cellular phone with you when you get out of the car?"
