jw, fwiw I'm not in the camp that says bonds have to tank for gold to do well. Sure it would help, but I don't see it as an absolute necessity.

There is enough coin in my opinion in other places, that will be looking for a home, to drive gold. As you noted the market cap is small. And I agree it is likely to turn into an internet type of bubble.

I have no comment on whether he understands gold, but his system is in no way based on fundamentals. It is quite methodical and based on fractals. It is far from precise and there is much room for interpretation but based on my observation of his track record, I know of no one who is consistently more accurate. I never ignore his view and always consider his interpretation to be a possibility. He is often wrong about when and how far when he is distant from the event, but seldom wrong as the event approaches.

No one was better on gold (than I can remember) than Robert Prechter in the early 1980s, but I have not followed his calls recently.
