You clearly pulled my statement out of context. I was addressing a gentleman who had training in seminary. He understood what I was referring to. Now, what's all the noise about over this simple bible verse?

While I doubt your sincerity...

I will answer your question concerning the salvation of satan.
Your observation was likely taken from the scriptures themselves as it is found in the book of James.
He points out that simply believing "IN" Christ is not the foundation for salvation and never has been.

James said this:

James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

James then goes on to show that "believing" does not constitute saving faith.

Big Difference!!!

Matthew 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen.

Jesus said and proved the same thing when He taught this:

Matthew 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Jesus plainly illustrates that not only "believing in" Him may be insufficient but even being capable of doing miracles under the power of the spirit does not prove you are OF Christ. Judas cast out demons and did miracles - yet was ordained to be the one who would betray Christ and was a devil rather than one of God's Elect.

John 6:70 Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?

Your 'complaint' is no complaint but a dispute about Santiago's approach perhaps at best. The bible has always taught that simple 'belief" in Christ is not saving faith.

Santiago is well aware that a man must be "born from above" as Christ taught to Nicodemus.

So that it is not a matter of believing IN but more a matter of "Believing ON" as in Depending Upon.

Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

Scripture interprets Scripture.

2 Peter 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

Santiago said this in the post you 'responded' to:

"Once you have the filling of the Holy Spirit it is like having a dear friend, adviser, counselor and protector in times of need. It is a relationship that can be known but only by the truly saved. No one can shovel Him in you or tell you the joy of having the Spirit reside within you."

It did not sound to me like Santiago was over simplifying what "believing" means.

If your inquiry was sincere - you have an answer.
If your inquiry was insincere - you have been answered.
