It is very sad that people in Africa must starve because of sanctions that the EU is placing on US products for competitive reasons and nothing more. And they complain about the steel tariffs. I am not a big fan of quota's, but how do you fight this kind of action in an open market economy.

This is what Europe often does, create special rules to exclude the USA from competing fairly and these rules are not, I guess, subject to review by the GATT agreements.

How does GATT treat a country (Country C) using rules on a country A whose purpose is to force that country not to use products from country B or else country B may not sell its products to country C. Is this not a violation of the GATT agreement? If it is not, is GATT worth anything at all.
