Not at all. I am looking for the greatest good for the greatest number. Economic efficiency leads to generalized improvement for the great mass of people. We provide safety nets for those who might fall through the cracks, for example, unemployment insurance, free clinics, job counseling, and the like. But we are primarily concerned to improve the common lot. That is real economic democracy......

An american perspective is to help those who fall through the cracks so long as they don't choose to fall through the cracks. It is very american to provide direct help and the reason why americans are much more charitable than any other country you can find anywhere - even on your planet.
