The specialization of labor is the key to economic success. In principle, it is an important component of raising the standard of living of those in developing countries. The humanitarian position is to support foreign investment. We have been at historic lows of unemployment, even with all those big bad multi- nationals doing their thing. But it hardly matters whether it is an American company, or a Chinese company: as long as there is free trade, he who sells the cheapest shirts of adequate quality will gain, the others will lose. On the other hand, all those guys working in China are in a better position to buy American products, so it tends to even out. Or do you want to keep the Third World in poverty forever?
