All things are relative. Greater efficiency is good for the economy as a whole, as it represents elimination of waste. If prices are lower, cost of living is lower, not "status of living" as you put it. It also enhances our economic position in the world as a whole.

The strong economic growth and low inflation during the past two decades was the direct result of improvements in worker productivity (aka efficiency). Technology was the driving force behind that. Indeed, technology put a lot of workers out of work, only to produce new industries that absorbed those workers. Any economy that stops seeking out ways to improve productivity will ultimately vanish.

You obviously have zero acumen in economics.
