Investment is not a gift. It is made on the basis of comparative advantage. Why are we at historically low levels of unemployment if the situation is so dire? Because it is not. The pool of foreign labor is mostly unskilled, first of all, and therefore not detracting much from the skilled labor force. Then there are numerous things it is impractical to send overseas, like retail outlets and small manufacturers. Besides, as I said, it hardly matters if it is a multi- national or indigenous capital making the investment, to the degree a company exports, it will rely on lower price to penetrate the American market. Your protectionist impulses are just a recipe for keeping the rest of the world poor, by making it unprofitable to invest in export industries.......
