Thanks for the ideas Jean. I spend way too much time in front of this computer myself. I am working on a plan to reduce that too ;o).. It is so smart of you to take advantage of earnings season the way you did! I will have to remember it for next quarter.

I am also glad to hear you are able to find a better balance with regard to the trading obsession..lol... I am sure the kiddies are glad too ;o)..Time sure does seem to slip away quickly these days. I must be getting old..lol.. But I am definitely going to try to follow your lead and spend less time doing this - eventually <G>

"I really don't know anyone who trades long & short equally well"

That scoundrel Mcguire is pretty good trading both long and short and it is my goal to learn to do it too. I'd like to be able to trade any market any day - excluding those flat days of course when much of the move is made pre-market. Once I am able to do that, I can set much more favorable hours ;o)..

"For me, knowing when to stay out seems to be the key. "

I think that is a big key too. There are simply some days that the market isn't cooperative. I also have days that I call my "duh" days..lol. Definitely need to sit those out!

"...after watching a lot of people who primarily short, they seem to do really poorly during rallies"

I think a lot of shorts these days are doing the same thing the longs (myself included) did during the bubble. Seems that earnings or lack of them.. and lots of other informational blurbs are only useful to justify a position -long or short. From what I've seen, stocks can trade damn well where they want to without regard to fundamental sense or economic sense or anything else...for a long, long time. I don't want to sit on loosing positions for days or weeks just to get back in the money when I could be making money with those dollars instead. I think another big key is to reduce that horrid tuition!

"Hey, have you ever been to Tuscany? "

It has been years since I've been to Europe. I never got to Tuscany though. We spent time in Rome, Naples and Gaeta but had the most fun on the island of Capri <GG>. We didn't have kids though so that probably does not help you one little bit..lol... We spent our time drinking wine, eating cheese and watching beautiful sunsets. Beware of the topless beaches...lol...

We also enjoyed Toulon France and Palma de Majorica on that trip. When do you think you will be able to go? Sounds wonderful and makes me want to go back just thinking of those memories! Have fun and take lots of pictures ;o)..
