Velo, The set of indicators presented is to make a case that that there is a bull effect in place and it doesn't make sense being heavily short today. I would argue that 8/20 is "reliable" in that it has provided a useful signal to be mostly short for the year. Also,the Stoch 50 turn is one of the most powerful signals. You can call it meaningless but that doesn't mean its worthless. In early July, it was great confirmation of a severe plunge, In early August it was worth 100 SPX points to the upside, and then in Sept and Oct it again gave confirmation to two good downside moves. Its not perfect, but it tells me there is potentially a 1-2 week train headed in the direction of the turn - so why stand in front of it? I mentioned first of the month buying precisely because it is so common in light of the emo-bears convinced there was going to be a sell off Friday. Pnf is useful to me as an "x-ray" into price. Its fuzzy and in black and white but can reveal critical information that in conjunction with other tools helps clarify the current environment. Its always useful to see how many posters become absorbed by their emotions and have their ego's on the line-yes they are valuable contrarians. I am preparing for the next period to be short, but would rather work with optimal risk in my favor. I don't care about getting in at the top or calling it ahead of time. I'll leave the calls to you - which I find clear, and rational. Keep up the great work.
