I've no idea what you are talking about. The essence of the person is not (imo) here, even if it were possible to define the essence of a person (which it isn't, I think).

There are also degrees of irrelevancy. While my waiter is not irrelevant as a person (no people are, imo) he is irrelevant for the most part to my life. On SI I would have to say that the people behind the posts (who I do not "know" in any real sense) are for the most part irrelevant to my life. I might pick up an idea from a post that I will use in my 3d life, but since I separate author form work when I read things, you will understand why the identity of the author of something is not important to me. I've always said that, long before the CH thing. I don't care about the author behind a work, whether it is a post, or a book, or a newspaper article. What really interests me are the words. Do you feel the authors of books that you read are also relevant to your life? Do you feel that way about newspaper columnists? And if not, why not? Is it the interactive aspect of SI that makes the authors of the posts so important to you?
