What I found fascinating, if you pardon the expression, is how they mingled and interacted with very people who they were shooting.

I am completely mystified why they did what they did.

There certainly wasn't an obvious political motive and, in fact, they didn't benefit in any apparent way from the killings. They weren't raving or on drugs. Indeed, they seemed to be perfectly normal, although down-and-out and therefore pathetic, people.

What surprises me, considering their predicament, is why they didn't do more hold-ups. At least, if they robbed for money one presumes they may have seen some benefit from their crimes. Or was that where the story of the $10m on the credit card came in? They shot people at random as a means of extortion and ransom. Actually, although nothing much makes sense that idea does seem to.

The motive was purely criminal.
