Hi Snowshoe, for my watch list (I own some of each, ranging 10-25% of eventual total), go to the bottom of page "China/HK" section:

Message 18159885

I had provided relevant bloomberg links for those that are availble via ADR or US broker purchaseable foreign shares. For the rest of the HK shares, or to cut down broker gauging, recommend using full service broker in the US, as they should be able to buy HK shares directly.

I do not know about these funds other than that the Jardine money management style is such that when matters go badly, they suck, and when events turn around, they go zoom, vroom:

Investing in China from North American accounts - There's at least one closed end fund, CHN. I think there's another.

CHN is selling at a discount to NAV.

Closed end funds are listed in Barron's toward the back
and on Mornigstar.com

<how can US citizens invest in China from a US-based brokerage account?>

Buy QCOM shares. Sales in China are crucial to QUALCOMM and growing dramatically. It'll be a huge customer with 1.3 billion people yakking away on cellphones.

The people in China will earn their money and buy heaps, so it's the surest way to take part in the boom. A bit like selling shovels to the gold-rush crowd in the Yukon.

With QUALCOMM, one is going to get USA protection, being a vital national interest, so there won't be any naughty stealing of intellectual property, cloning etc. QUALCOMM can also handle any legal issues and other tricks of getting successfully into China. QUALCOMM isn't just selling in China, they are also investing.

Cut out the mutual fund managers, the Chinese bribe takers and all the other muck. Go over their heads straight to the consumer who is the one with the money. QUALCOMM can take you there.

We motes need to be careful how we do our gold mining [don't want to bump into hot lava by mistake].
