lol... volcker raised rates to kill inflation, physically by encouraging money into risk free short term interest bearing accounts and into the dollar, in that sense he changed mkt psychology, yes. but the move physically complimented and backed up the desired psychological change. inflation is not the issue today... i can't even believe we are having to talk about this? this is the stupidest conversation i have ever had and its a complete waste of time. what planet are you on??? our fed is trying to keep the economy afloat.. they're trying to stimulate demand or in the absence of that keep the consumer consuming long enough in the hope that corporate demand picks up at some point. they're morons and don't understand that they can't fix the problem with lower rates but that's beside the point. this is so stupid that i'm not even going to discuss it any more. if you want to go on about this do it over on ihump with the rest of the mental midgets
