Email Test

"Picture this, You are a spammer, you send out a million spams (junk emails) to a million different email addresses. Within minutes you are logging the READING of those emails. Note this is not people who respond but you can actually log someone just previewing or reading the email in Outlook or Outlook Express. And the best part, the poor user has no idea this is happening to him, it is completely stealth."

[note from mark: take the test to see how easily your email client is exploited. i took it. and when i did not OPEN the email, there was no record that i had received it. the second i OPENED the mail, i was logged in with the spammer! please note that this has nothing to do whatsoever with whether or not you respond or delete the mail. just whether you OPEN it, or preview it, in outlook or outlook express. i use netscape messenger, and it gave me up when i opened the test piece of mail.]

i got those mean old low down web bug blues....

"WHAT KINDS OF USES DOES A WEB BUG HAVE IN AN EMAIL MESSAGE?

1. A Web Bug can be used to find out if a particular Email message
has been read by someone and if so, when the message was read.
2. A Web Bug can provide the IP address of the recipient if the
recipient is attempt to remain anonymous.
3. Within an organization, A Web Bug can give an idea how often a
message is being forwarded and read."

so from me to you, my advice is the same as it ever was.... if you wanna control spam, DON'T OPEN IT!!
