* IN RESPONSE TO THE QUALCOMM QUARTERLY DOWNGRADE COMPETITION *

8:39 ET QCOM downgraded by AG Edwards (42.86 -1.47) -- Update --
AG Edwards in a pre-market note has cut QCOM to hold from buy, citing valuation concerns and setting a new 6 month target price of $32. While they recognize Qualcomm's strong results in the previous quarter, AG Edwards believes that a lot of near term growth is already priced into the stock. Of particular concern to AG Edwards is that China looks poised to export homegrown TD-SCDMA technology to India.

This, combined with the discouraging consumer confidence reports released yesterday is weighing on the stock, which is off more than a point today.
