What if Israelis who say the same thing?

According to polls, and support for the Government, that is less than 5% of the Israelis. The left in Israel has been "mugged" often enough that they have turned to the right now, and support Sharon.

this cannot be the basis for which the strongest country on earth decides to give unconditional support to a country in its brutal occupation of another country.

This argument about our support for Israel has been done so often here that I really don't want to go back and forth on it. In any case, Nadine does it much better than I. :^)

The West Bank is not "another country," Israel has tried again and again to get rid of it as one, and can't do it. It is like a "Tar Baby" that they are stuck to. What you refer to as a "Brutal Occupation" is Israel defending themselves.

We don't support Israel on a "Cost/Benefit" basis, as you well know. We support them because we feel close to them, and do not feel close to the Arabs. We would have had a much easier time of it if Israel had never come into existence. But that is not the way the world worked out the last 50 years.

Oh, BTW, do me a favor and don't Shout! so much, will ya? Hard on my eyes.
