This is the new buy-and-hold market.
Barron's had a piece on Kim Goodwin a few weeks ago. She used to run Twentieth Century Ultra, has now taken over at another shop. She's telling her managers not to sell unless something is "actionable."
Basically, most growth funds missed a huge part of the bubble by selling too soon, only to find there were no save havens, even in old economy stocks.
So now, we get to do it all over again. It's like a game of chicken, just ignore valuation until the stock blows up.
Therefore, in order to keep up with the indexes, managers have to buy the megacaps. Valuation does not matter any more. Again. Until it does.
Sig can tell you about all the "smart money" that sold Dell in 1996 based on valuation. Here we go again.
