It's not my article, so if you need clarification, you might like to write a mail to IHT. Still, I would think that it is rather obvious, given the escalation of suicide attacks, that Sharon has NOT brought security to Israel. It is also highly likely that Sharon's personal vendetta with Arafat does a lot for the latter's popularity. Re your theories of political assassinations Amnesty International is a human rights group. They are hardly watchdogs for political assassinations. So of course we do not see them reporting on singular assassinations of political figures.
