From looking at earnings, they're pathetic! Barfing.com making beating lowered numbers like July 4th parties...what the hell are they thinking! Revenues down YoY and with layoffs they meet the EPS. HURRAH! HURRAH! HURRAH! HURRAH! LOL! What a facking joke! I hope someday the market can uncover more crooks along with Barfing.com...

Anecdotally..folks where I work went long today on mut funds. They think DOW is going to 9K so why not for 1-2 days?
Who knows? Anything is possible (though I doubt it). Question is will they take their gains at 9K? Or just watch it evaporate yet again?

I bet they take their gains at Dow9k. Too many people have seen how the market eventually heads lower. Now the expectation is that after a couple of months at most, the market come crashing down.
That can make for a steady trend upward right into next year a possibility although I am not looking ahead that far at this point.

Just look at the money inflows into mutual funds (or lack of). That also says we can go a lot higher--if you view it as contrarian. Take a look at www.amgdata.com. IMHO, that tells the story. The other factor is how investors seemed to have capitulated in the Nasdaq this year as indicated by the huge outflows from tech funds. Nasdaq is under-owned by mutual funds; so much of the money went into old economy value funds--probably the type of stocks with under funded pensions and plenty of debt.<g>

At the very least, dip buying this month seems like a good approach to take.(imho)
