You are rather absurd. First, the Domino Theory had at least a limited validity. Cambodia and Laos both went Communist after Vietnam. However, the movement was sufficiently exhausted that it did not get any farther in that region. Had it not been engaged in a lengthy war, who knows? Second, the Soviet Union suffered political collapse as a result of the success of containment in Afghanistan and Central America, and Reagan's successful challenge of European neutralism, and ability to place intermediate range missiles despite mass protests. But more than that, it was the specter of an unwinnable arms race, in the form of SDI, that spurred glasnost and perestroika.

The fact is, the general policy of containment was successful, and Reagan clinched the deal by offering a more aggressive challenge to the Soviet Union.......
