I'm not a fan of pre-finished either. About the only way for consistant trim & door stain is to use the same batch of stain for all trim. Impossible on pre-finished. I usually do all doors and trim in the basement or garage. In a worse case-- it is done in the shop and transported to the job site. You are correct,, I've even seen some cheap doors with trim to match-- the trim was a balsa wood with a paper finish stuck to it,, could not even be cut w/o tearout. I'd do without & wait before using that stuff..
